Your Support Helps CATCO Do More For the Community!

We need your help to continue making a difference . . .

Without the generous support of many individuals, corporations, and foundations, CATCO would not be able to continue offering LIVE, professional, dynamic theatre to its community. This investment in our continued success is vital and we are deeply appreciative of it. Contributions of computer equipment, furniture, collateral material design and printing services, and volunteer time help to defray the increasing costs associated with responding to the community’s needs.

Of course, and more often, when these items are not contributed, financial support becomes increasingly more important.  You can help! And, by donating now, your name will be added to the growing list of supporters recognized in our programs and printed materials. Of course, CATCO’s 501(c)3 status makes your contribution fully tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

If anyone were to ask me in the autumn
of 1984 what future I saw for the Columbus Theatre Project, as the company was then known, the description would not have lived up to the institution that I see today.  T
he Contemporary American Theatre Company, better known by its acronym CATCO, is, after nearly eighteen years, Columbus' largest professional theatre company with an operating budget in excess of $1.7 million.  Each season, our live main stage productions and community programs serve an audience of approximately 40,000.  Not too bad for an organization whose budget was originally tied to the credit limit of my credit card!

Those early rehearsals at the electric company and home-hunting at the YMCA, the Newman Center and the Stadium II Theatre at Ohio State University, and the little theatre space on North Park Street helped CATCO grow artistically as well.   Now, after five years as the resident professional theatre company of the Vern Riffe Center for Government and the Arts in downtown Columbus, local and national actors, designers, and directors all come together to benefit Central Ohio by exploring classic, contemporary and new literary works on stage and in the community.  Weekday mornings bring area students and senior citizens together for programs that combine a LIVE theatrical production with post-performance discussions.  Theatre classes for amateurs and professionals are conducted each year as well as lectures and forums for the general public to pose questions and discuss topics stemming from our work. The partnerships and collaborations with our community’s schools, centers and businesses continue to grown exponentially.  CATCO is becoming more than just a professional theatre, but a resource the community can count on for cultural and life-long educational enrichment.

The support of our neighbors and friends helped CATCO succeed and survive where many other institutions did not.  Columbus had a vision of a professional regional theatre comparable to the city itself – intelligent, expressive, alluring, innovative.  Friends like you are helping us turn the vision of a few into a reality for thousands.

What's unthinkable is how much could be lost without your support.  It takes more than ticket sales to cover the costs of providing quality performing arts and educational programming - IT TAKES YOU!
