Our upcoming Virtual Gala – Our Stage, Our City, is a celebration of Columbus, our community, and CATCO’s artistic and education programs. If you’d like to be a part of the celebration, we’re looking for volunteers to send in short videos of them singing the last few lines of Corner of the Sky to be in our big finale community choir!

Several CATCO actors will be singing the beginning of the song, then you’ll join in! If you’d like to be a part of the finale number, here’s what to do:

STEP 1: REHEARSE

Listen to the music and rehearse your lyrics. The track has music director Que Jones singing your part. All you have to do is sing along!

Your lyrics are:

Rivers belong where they can ramble
Eagles belong where they can fly
I’ve got to be where my spirit can run free
Got to find my corner of the sky

STEP 2: RECORD

Use the audio track to record a video of you singing the very end of the song. You’ll hear our music director, Que Jones, and actor Shauna Davis singing. Sing along with them. Please record video from the start of the track to the end of the track, with you listening before you sing and after you sing. Take a beat after the song ends before reaching to turn off your video. If possible, please listen to the track in headphones so that your audio is just your vocal without the accompaniment. If not, no worries, we can still use your video, just not your audio.

If you are feeling comfortable with harmonies and want an extra challenge, here are the tracks by SATB vocal parts.

TECHNICAL TIPS

Please film horizontally (in landscape)

Look at the camera (i.e. use the lens as your audience)

Use a Medium Shot (Waist/Torso up) with the camera at eye level.

Make sure there’s light on your face (and you don’t have a window behind you)

SUBMIT YOUR VIDEO

When you’re finished recording, please upload your video here. Please submit your video by Friday, April 2 so we can include it in our celebration!

We hope you can join us for our Virtual Gala on April 16 – it’s free to attend!
