THE PRICE OF POWER

CATCO will present a free reading of a new riveting drama by former Ohio Supreme Court Justice and Columbus playwright Herb Brown called The Price of Power. The play focuses on the relationships between former President John F. Kennedy, his brother, Robert F. Kennedy, and J. Edgar Hoover, and leads to important questions about the way our government functions at its highest level.

Brown has written seven plays, three of them world premieres produced by CATCO: You’re My Boy in 2005; The Final Table in 2015; and Henry Ford’s Model E in 2017.

Todd Covert holds a BFA from The Ohio State University and an MFA from The University of Southern California. Past CATCO productions include —Life Sucks., Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Final Table ,Henry Ford & the Model E . Short North Stage productions include– Saturday Night Fever, Kiss of the Spider Woman, A Normal Heart, Angels in America 1&2 ,Dream Girls & Assassins.Weathervane productions include The Odd Couple, Meet me in St.Louis ,The Full Monty & Gypsy. He Recently played Agent Rick in the film The Old Man and the Gun Starring Robert Redford and will be in an upcoming feature film due out in 2020.

Kevin Carty, returned to the CATCO stage in Holmes and Watson, where he was last seen as Harry Truman in The Final Table. Previous CATCO productions include, I Love You You’re Perfect Now Change, The Fantastics, as well as Seussical the Musical and You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown at CATCO is Kid. He has also directed shows at CATCO is Kids, Reality Theater, Columbus Children’s Theatre, Opera Columbus, and several area high schools, and, for the last 10 years, has portrayed the role of the clown wearing Big Red Shoes.

Ted Amore, a Columbus native, returned home in 1982 after serving in the U.S. Coat Guard and attending the American Academy of Dramatic Arts West.  Ted was cast soon after in the Players Theatre Production of Sweeny Todd and has been acting here since. Ted most recently appeared with Actors Theatre as Harpagon (the Miser) in Moliere’s The Miser and received an award for his role as Stephano in The Tempest, which was also with Actors Theatre. Manga! Ted was also in Act of God at CATCO during the 2016-17 season.

Isaac Nippert made his CATCO debut in the amazing production — My Name is Asher Lev during the 2014-15 season. His Los Angeles theater credits include A Christmas Carol and Nothing Sacred at south Coast rep, Don Juan at a noise Within, and The Magic Bullet Theory at sacred Fools Theatre Company.
